Shiatsu

What is shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a term of a Japanese dialect (finger pressure) and is a method of Japanese origin with the existence of historical theories about its ancient Greek origin, with possible loss of evidence in both cases. Shiatsu is based on the same principles as acupuncture. It acts on the same points of tension and blockage of energy flow on the meridians (conduits of energy movement) mainly through finger pressure, thus transmitting a quantity of energy by the therapist on the meridian, reinforcing the energy supply to cellular tissues, with a more enhanced biological research in relation to the free induction of cosmic energy, which is provoked by the metal of the needle due to the reduced resistance and thus they present these specific points in different forms of energy; This is a phenomenon on which their detection is based by devices that conduct electrical energy, and they calculate the difference of resistance by using machines that usually work together with electro-acupuncture devices.

In addition to acting on the meridians that correspond mainly to the vital organs (e.g., the stomach meridian), providing energy for their balanced operation, they also act on other categories of cellular tissues, such as muscles or nerves, directly and on the balance of neurotransmitters in the voluntary and autonomous nervous system, on the sensory and motor nerves, on the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. In this way, they restore the normal movement of dynamics and information to and from the central neural system (brain), resulting in the improvement of defensive mechanisms and the balance of either increased or reduced psycho-corporeal and mental tensions in relation to the average.

Meanwhile, the techniques of muscle tension with massage and arthritic kinesiology, which are also performed on the spine, release the tensions from the origins (roots) of the spinal nerves, resulting in the normal flow of energy to the nerve fibers. This operation is also supported by osteopathy. It is used in all categories of physical and mental diseases, either alone or in combination with other treatment methods, according to the cause or causes of the disease, either participating in the treatment or in the reduction of symptoms with preventive treatment capabilities.
